Homeopathy Homeopathy was founded in the late eighteenth century by the celebrated German physician Samual Hahnemann. The word homeopathy derives from the Greek word "homoios", meaning "similar", and "pathos", meaning "suffering". Homeopathic remedies are generally dilutions of natural substances derived from plants, minerals and animals. Homeopathy is based upon the principle of "like cures like", these remedies specifically match different symptom patterns or "profiles" of illness, and act to stimulate the body's natural healing response. Homeopathy is a low cost, non-toxic system of medicine and although it is considered a form of alternative medicine in the United States, it is used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide. In Britain and India, homeopathic hospitals and out patient clinics are part of the national health system, and homeopathy is recognized as a postgraduate medical specialty by virtue of an act of Parliament. Homeopathy has also enjoyed the patronage of the British royal family for the past four generations. Homeopathy is a complete system of natural or alternative medicine that can have a therapeutic effect on almost any disease or health condition. Homeopathy has been of tremendous value in reversing diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, skin conditions, allergies, and mental/emotional disorders, especially if applied at the onset of the disease. Dr. Eric R. Hampton and Dr. Melinda J. Whitsell of Westhampton Natural Medicine in Mesa, Arizona, utilize homeopathy in the treatment of hormone imbalances, depression and anxiety, and many other chronic, degenerative conditions without any side effects. |
